Hold on to your Baloobius! I had a rare and amazing opportunity to chat with Mokey (Donna Kimball) and Wembley (Jordon Lockhart) about their new series, “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.” It was an unforgettable experience and I only hope that the Fraggles had as much fun as I did.

Joan: Hi Mokey! Hi Wembley! Thank you for talking with me. If I could start with you Mokey, have you been painting anything recently?

Mokey: Oh, I absolutely have! I’ve painted a portrait of the Trash Heap. You know, she’s amazing. She’s basically our Oracle-she’s so wise! Sometimes I make up a problem just so I can go talk to her and seek her advice. Don’t tell anyone!

Joan: We won’t tell anyone!

Wembley: Good to know!

Joan: Good to know! Wembley, another thing that would be good to know. What is your favorite part of having a Baloobius (Fraggle word for tail)?

Wembley: Gee! I never really though of that before! You know, it really helps swinging into the pond. Just grab onto a vine and WHOO HOOOO!

Mokey: That’s true!

Wembley: That’s probably one of my best uses of it, now that I think of it.

Joan: I can understand that! Mokey, are you still roommates with Red?

Mokey: Yes, absolutely! You know, I have to say, we are very different Fraggles but we find common ground between us. Her side is full of sports equipment and trophies and things that she’s won and mine is full of crystals and objects that are spiritual, but we find a way to get along. We just communicate. We talk and we LISTEN to each other, Joan. That’s the secret, right?

Joan: I agree, I agree! Wembley, do you have a favorite smell? Do you have a favorite flower or maybe, a favorite radish that smells the best to you?

Wembley: Interesting! Well, whenever radish shakes are being handed around, it really doesn’t matter where I am. I could smell that stuff on the air and I am IN THERE!

Mokey: That’s true!

Joan: Do you have a favorite smell, Mokey?

Wembley: Mokey likes stinkleberries! (Laughs.)

Mokey: Ok, I do like the smell of stinkleberries. But you know what Joan, I like the smell of connection.

Wembley: That’s so weird…

Mokey:  Even though we’re talking through the Doozertube, I can smell that you, Joan-you had a salad for lunch… you’re home right now…and you’re going to have some more radishes for dinner!  Am I right?

Joan: I love radishes, I do.

Wembley: A true Fraggle, right there!

Mokey: I was mostly right then!

 Joan: A big radish fan, from way back. Mokey, I have a question for you. Have you seen Cotterpin lately?

Mokey: Cotterpin? Oh yes, she was just here! You know, Cotterpin-she’s really amazing because she’s kind of a Doozer who sort of does her own thing. She’s really, really something. She has great ideas and I think we all need to listen to her. She’s really something. I love Cotterpin. Cotterpin! Where are you?

Cotterpin: I’m just busy working right now.

Mokey: Oh, ok. Sorry! She’s busy working right now.

Joan: I understand-don’t want to interrupt her! Wembley, do you have a favorite dance move?

Wembley: Favorite dance move? DO I! (Dances)

Joan: I think that deserves an award!

Wembley: Hey, you know what? So do I!

Joan: Well, thank you so much for your time, you two. I so enjoyed it! You have lots of fun today!
