Review: “I’m Not in Love”
Love is a complicated thing, especially in this day and age. There seems to be more and more pressure on people nowadays to climb up the corporate career ladder, then climb the property ladder whilst juggling the stresses of finding true love and settling down to start a family. In your typical Hollywood film, it all looks so simple. In reality, things are never that simple. Col Spector’s latest film, “I’m Not in Love” brilliantly captures the reality that is modern love, and is a really great movie to watch this Valentine’s Day if you’re seeking something that is an anti rom-com. It’s also worth mentioning that this is the final film in a trilogy of films about men and their relationship with women, so if you’re a fan of “I’m Not in Love” then it may be worth seeking out Spector’s other films. Pretty Woman Review
“You should totally watch Pretty Woman!” My aunt instructed me when we were recently discussing romantic films. Here’s the thing, I don’t do romantic films. I usually hate watching Rom Coms and find them so cliched and predictable. I explained all this to my aunt but she insisted that I would really like “Pretty Woman” if I gave it a chance. Review: The Sleepless
With a title like “The Sleepless” one may first assume that Michael DiBiasio-Ornelas’ latest film is a horror film. Instead, it’s a wonderfully relatable comedy which follows two thirty-somethings, Zach (Nyambi Nyambi) and Sophia (Rebecca De Ornelas), who are both struggling with insomnia. When the pair meet each other randomly at 3AM, in the only spot nearby open for coffee, they decide to share each other’s company in the early hours of the city that apparently never sleeps. In “Spinster” (2020), Chelsea Peretti takes the leading role in a not-so-romantic comedy for the first time. Known for her role as Gina Linetti on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and her stand-up special “One of the Greats”, Peretti’s comedic delivery and deadpan tone are her trademarks.
